Over the years, I have met many women who desperately wanted to be a mother. I’ve also encountered those who did not want to have children of their own but loved having them around, playing a significant role in their lives without dealing with the daily rigors of being a mother. Additionally, I’ve spoken with those who wanted very much to have children but were not fertile. This inspired me to say, “You were meant to be a mother, in one way or another.” Only God knows if and when a woman will ever give birth. But every woman’s love, nurturing, and maternal qualities are needed in this world; whether it be through natural birth, adoption, foster care, or as the matriarch in her community.
